On 6-29-09 The Department brought up and voted on placing a bid on a possible replacement for E582. The vehicle in question is a 1994 Pierce Lance with an 8 man enclosed cab. 2000GPM, 750 Tank, 35 Gallon of class B foam. Check back in the future for updates being we wont know until the 20th of August if we won the bid.
On April 9th the department signed the contract with Pierce Fire Apparatus to Build our Urban Interface. The unit will be a 4x4 International, 5 man cab with 4 pack seats, 1000GPM PTO for pump and roll. 600 Gallon Tank. class A+B foam cells. 8KW Hydraulic Generator. Led Light Package. Delivery is expected in December or January. Check back in the future for drawings
3-11-09 1716 Dispatched to 773 Main Street in Nuremberg for the Brush Fire. E582 arrived to find a field fire moving rapidly due to the wind. Fire was quickly Ext. before it damaged any nearby structures. Approx 1/2 acre was involved. Units O/S: E582, B584

3-10-09 1053 Dispatched as part of the 2nd alarm to 19 Pecora Road in Sugarloaf Township for the House Fire. Engine and 1 tanker requested. Sugarloaf command arrived on location and added L581 to the box also. First arriving units arrived and found a working on the 2nd floor. An aggressive interior attack took place holding the fire to the room of origin with minor extension into the attic. Nuremberg Units were held in staging until released about 1 hour later. 2-28-09 1459 Dispatched to 99 Labenberg Road for the House Fire, also dispatched was District 30 for the Engine & Tanker. L581 arrived right behind T30-35 with light smoke showing from the residence. Upon investigating the truck crew found a small amount of fire in the ceiling. Fire was knocked down with a can, area was overhauled and the thermal imaging camera used to check for extension. Units were inservice for about 45 mins.. Units O/S: L581, T585, T587, E30-10, T30-35, Nuremberg EMS

1-25-09 1830 Dispatched as part of the first alarm to 25 W Market Street in Sheppton for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Also dispatched was District 9 Sta. 1 & 2, District 30, and Hazle Twp Fire. C9-08 arrived on scene and confirmed a Working fire and est. Market Street Command. E9-10 arrived first and advanced a line threw the D side and knocked down the bulk of the Fire. Squirt 9-20 est. water supply in front of the building. L581 arrived next and nosed in to E9-10. The crew was split with one crew advancing a 2nd line threw the front of the residence and a 2nd crew going to the roof. Squirt 745 arrived and vented the front of the roof. After all fire was ext. extensive overhaul was performed. L581 also established a fill site for air cylinders. E9-10 also removed a dog from the residence that was found during the primary search however the dog perished after attempts were made to save him. Nuremberg Units were inservice for about 2 hours. 1-23-09 1010 Dispatched to the area of 1378 Tomhicken Road for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Caller stated heavy smoke coming for a chimney with smoke alarms going off in the residence. L581 arrived to find the same, smoke also noted to be coming from the eves. Entry was gained to find a heavy smoke condition on all floors of the residence. An overloaded and faulty wood burner was located in the basement. The wood burner was shut down, emptied and the residence was ventilated. No extension found using the TIC however an elevated heat level was found in the wall on the first floor where a 2nd burner was being installed. Had the neighbor not called 911 when he a did, a fire would have started in the first floor wall and this would have been a totally different outcome. Units were in service for about an hour. Units O/S: L581, T585, T587. Sugarloaf E2 & T1 were Cancelled.

The department is proud to announce that on 1-16-09 we received word that we were awarded a Grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $175,000. This grant will be used to replace B586 with an Urban Interface Brush Engine. Check back in the near future for additional information.
1-09-09 2056 Dispatched to the area of 572 Mountain Road for an MVA with reported Entrapment. C582 arrived on scene to find one vehicle into the woods with severe damage. The driver was found the be entrapped and unresponsive with snorring respirations. Airmedical was requested. E582 arrived on location, cribbed the vehicle and placed the spreaders in service to pop the driver's side door. The driver was rapidly extricated and placed in care of Medic 6401. L581 secured the LZ for Medevac 7. Units were inservice for about 45 Mins.
12-31-08 1249 Dispatched to the Tomhicken Road near the county line for an MVA with Entrapment. Also Dispatched was Sugarloaf Fire and EMS. E582 arrived first to find a 1 car mva, car into a tree with one patient heavily Entrapped. Multiple hand and hydraulic tools were placed in service until the arrival of Sugarloaf Rescue who also placed additional tools in service. With the Engine Company and Rescue Company working together the pt was extricated and flown to shock trauma with multiple severe injuries. Units O/S: E582, Sugarloaf Rescue, Sugarloaf EMS, Nuremberg EMS, Medic 26, PSP, Sugarloaf Twp Police.
11-02-08 1608 Dispatched to the area of 801 Main Street in the Berg for a reported BARN FIRE. E582 arrived on location to find the roof of the barn involved along with some extension into the building, correct address was given of Troy Lane. Fire was knocked down with 2-1.75. Due to the Remote location L581 was staged and had its manpower sent to the scene along with manpower from district 9. Units were inservice for approx. 1 Hour. Units O/S: E582, L581, T587, E9-10, T9-30, Nuremberg EMS.

9-30-08 1912 Dispatched to 1251 Scotch Valley Drive in Beaver Twp Columbia County for a MVA with ENTRAPMENT assiting Beaver Township. Upon arrival units found a vehicle into a garage with Multiple Injuries. 1 patient was a Class 5 on the scene and still located in the vehicle. 5 additonal patients were found outside the vehicle. Crews assisted treating and packaging all the patients. 1 Patient was FLown to Shock Trauma were he passed away a few days. The rest were transported to other local trauma centers. All of the patients were high school kids under the age of 18. Units O/S: E582, E141(Beaver Twp), E217(Main Twp), Nuremberg EMS, Bloomsburg Micu 61, Medic 1, Catawissia Amb 50.

8-10-08 2000 Dispatched for the Ladder at the request of C581 to the intersection of Main + Mahanoy Streets for the Lightning strike investigation. As severe storms moved threw the area, the Luthern Church had its steeple struck. L581 laddered the building and found no evidence of fire just damage to the steeple. Units operated for about 45 mins. Units O/S: L581.

7-15-08 2141 Dispatched as part of the first alarm along with District 9, District 30, Hazle Twp Fire and West Hazleton RIT to 941 Center Street In East Union Twp. for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Chief 9-06 arrived on location and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire showing from the rear 2nd and 3rd floors of a large double. E9-10 layed a supply line from Center Street down Cranberry Alley where they placed multiple lines inservice. L581 arrived on location as the first out of town piece and picked up the Engine's Supply line. Squirt 9-20 was positioned at A side and placed 1 line inservice threw the 2nd floor. L581 also supplied them with a supply line. The L581 crew also advanced a line from the Ladder into the 3rd floor after throwing multiple ground ladders. Tower 105 positioned at the A/B corner and went to the roof. Ringtown Valley E30-10 was placed in front of 9-10. E582 was assigned to the fill site. All additional apparatus was placed in staging. The fire was knocked down and contained in about 30 mins with extensive overhaul being performed. Nuremberg units operated for about 3 hours on the scene. Units O/S:L581, E582, T585, T587, E9-10, T9-30, SQUIRT 9-20,SQ 9-70, E9-14, T9-34 E30-10, E30-11, T30-35, Hazle Twp Tower + Rescue, West Hazleton RIT (Ladder + Rescue).
